Our 2018 festival is now over…

Thank you to all who attended our concerts in the park and in the square, to our crew for making it appear easy, to all the musicians who gave of their time for 'honourariums' instead of wages.

Now...if all things line up and the Duncan Showroom can remain open another year there very well could be a 39 Days of July 2019.

Day 39 - Youth Day

Youth Day - all musicians under 20

Noon  Duncan Has Talent - all the contestants did get up and perform in front of strangers so we is giving those that want that chance one more time of performing at the festival to get that chance

1pm  Duncan Has Talent winners – showcasing some of the best of this event

1:30pm  Malakai - already been on stage numerous times at the Duncan Showroom, this 9 year old will impress you

2pm  Carl Swanson - a student 16 year old at Shawnigan Lake School, we were impressed with his abilities and stage presence at a recent Showroom showcase

2:45pm   Jared Popma - an acoustic singer and guitar player utilizes technology to enhance his deliveries of traditional tunage and a few of his songs
 
3:30pm  Season 2 - a change up in a local young  band creates a new name and singer and with lots of rehearsals going on I suspect they will be stoked to perform

4pm  Eric’s Basement - a three piece rock band that knows the classic feel and brings it into the now – they have performed at this festival for 3 years now  

4:45pm    James Meyer - a young man destined for stage we know he will give a well balanced performance with whoever he brings along

5:30pm   Porter Brothers - young, local farm boys that write their own music, play a few fave covers and perform to make sure you have a good time- we believe in these guys

Noon    Steve McKinnon Trio - not only does Steve write country tunes but he has good collection of fave traditional country standards

1pm    Joe Charron - country/folk from a guy who has been acknowledged nationally for his ability to write good songs

2pm   Ryan McMahon - from Ladysmith, a family man touring the country where writing from your own personal experiences /observations can catch you success – with acoustic guitar and strong vocals he delivers his roots folk/country folk with an honest approach that wins him audiences all the time.

Noon    Steve McKinnon Trio - not only does Steve write country tunes but he has good collection of fave traditional country standards that will engage you

5pm  Andrea Smith / Bev Finch - this combination of two women from north of Nanaimo who write some great tunes and sing oh so well do come together to share with us

6pm   Daniel Cook and the Radiators - 4 piece from Vic with island country styled lyrics and feel - makes you take notice in a real good way

7pm   Roots &Grooves - what a way to end a day but with Nico Rhodes and Rick Scott - be prepared to go on a musical journey when age combines with youth - keyboards and dulcimer,  yes dulcimer - what a duo - a do not miss

11am   Zumba with Roz - final episode of “Sweating in the Park” - fun exercising with designed dance music with the bass turned up led by Roz

Noon    Short n’ Randy with friends - these guys make a Saturday morning worthwhile...country/folk/pop/original...some audience members even sing along

1pm    Chris Baron / Megan Cronin - futuristic and organic folk with swaggering sweetness  - a dynamic acoustic duo based out of Portland Oregon

2pm   The K-Tones - keyboards with flute and sometimes bass guitar added in - very soothing and explorative -from Saltspring

3pm   Cam Stiles Trio - second performance at the festival and this is the rock set with electric bass

4pm   The Blooming - classical-pop members Elise Boulanger, and Sean Patton have been shaping a sonic sound ground in classical foundations

5pm   Brian Gauci - Pleasant guitar musings of original tunage while we await William’s stories to be retold

6pm   Shakespeare in the Park - Shawnigan Players presents excerpts from The Merry Wives of Windsor

7pm   Shakespeare in the Park - yes, theatre in a public park
