Duncan Has Talent

Our working template came from the idea that mentorship alongside competition is a beneficial factor in encouraging youth to continue to strive for their dreams.

The Duncan Has Talent ‘competition’ comes with that mentorship proponent. After each song, a panel of mentors - judges give kudos where deserved and advice as to how to improve where needed. It is that acceptance of the mentorship given that dictates who moves on in the attempt to win the prize money contributed for 4 years now by the Lion’s Club of Duncan.

$300 first / $200 second /$100 third in each category

There is only room for 9 contestants in each category so make sure if you want to register that you make contact with the festival asap....but do check in right up to event time in case of cancellations. Must be 19 years old or under. Please have two pieces prepared to perform. Please have signed in with the tech/mentors by 4:45 pm each day at the latest.

There is so much ‘hidden’ talent in the youth of our community and they all sure could use some knowledgeable encouragement so as to urge them to continue. They could use as much applause as possible, that is where you, the audience comes in so please attend as many of these performances as possible to cheer them on.

Duncan Has Talent 2019 Schedule

All of these scheduled musical events are designed to bring community together to celebrate our diverse local / Canadian and international music scenes, to give the opportunity to meet our neighbours, share a common experience and hopefully be able to now greet each other with a friendly smile on any future happen chance connections. We are proving that downtown Duncan and the Cowichan Valley is... ‘a rather fun place to be’.
