A message from our Parade Marshall

We are proud to present the newly re-named DCFS Grande Parade in person on July 15, 2023.  This will be my first year as Parade Marshall as I look forward to organizing this wonderful community event with the gracious and generous advice, direction & stewardship of former Parade Marshall, Adam Clutchey.

This year's theme is "Carnival" - extravagant, colourful and lively.  Energy and joy are key!

We have a new sponsor this year, Island GM, joining our returning sponsors, Dairy Queen/Oodyoos & Panago Pizza Duncan.  Duncan Paving Company is also partnering this year to help us with our Grande Parade, along with the City of Duncan, CVRD, Cowichan Tribes, the Rotary Club, DBIA and our amazing team of volunteers.

With the stress and isolation of the past few years somewhat in the rear-view mirror, it is time to bring back "FUN" while celebrating the many amazing facets that make up our Cowichan Valley life.  From our thriving businesses to non-profits, clubs & organizations of all shapes & sizes.

 I bring with me the goal of developing our DCFS Grande Parade into a "destination event" for Vancouver Island by encouraging both young and old to participate in full costumes, uniforms, cultural dress & playful outfits.

All of these scheduled musical events are designed to bring community together to celebrate our diverse local / Canadian and international music scenes, to give the opportunity to meet our neighbours, share a common experience and hopefully be able to now greet each other with a friendly smile on any future happen chance connections we are proving that downtown Duncan and the Cowichan Valley is ‘a rather fun place to be’.
